Got a request from a reader as follows:

I'm looking for some upbeat Passover Song and Dance Music for children between the ages of 6- 12. Something we can beat tambourines too and for the most part has English lyrics but a Hebrew tone.

I don't think the Why Not Sea Monsters? discs are quite what this reader is looking for, and other than that I don't have any good ideas.

Hey there--I can't recommend anything personally on Passover music for kids, but a quick look around the internet brought up the following:--Shirlala Pesach, by Shira Kline, on Amazon.com. Looks like the best bet--20 songs exploring various aspects of the Passover Seder. It was issued in March 2006. She also has an earlier album called Shirlala Shabbat. No reviews and no samples for listening, however.--A hiphop band called Chutzpah played at Kidzapalooza in Chicago this summer. On Amazon, I didn't find much of their music related to Passover, but could be fun if your kids are into hip hop.--Matisyahu issued The So-Called Seder last year. They're a Hassidic Hip Hop group. Based on reviews, it is definitely NOT for kids, and the reviews were very mixed. But I love the sub-title of the CD, A Hip Hop Haggadah.There's got to be more out there--perhaps a quick call to a kid-friendly rabbi or Hebrew School might yield more info. First of all, are you really singing Barbra on the blog? So rude.

Uh, 6-12? It's such a matter of taste. I haven't found much That appeals, but ... There's a guy named Paul Zim who does songs for littles, heavy on the kids chorus, but they could be adapted. Debbie Friedman is popular with many and she has done a few Passover songs that you could find on her "Shana Tovah". I can't recommend these because they were given by grandparents and quickly "lost", but I know they exist. And I know that some people like them. Craig Taubman might have some, too. But we don't have any of his.

Again, a vacuum for cool jewish holiday music, just waiting to be filled. Someone could be making their millions.
