"The Crust Lady" - The Ukulady

    Artist: The Ukulady

    Song: "The Crust Lady"

Album: To the Downfall of Evil!

Description: Loopy.  Askew.  Slightly off.  So, of course, about 20% (30%? this isn't exactly precise) of you families will think this is awesome.  Are you one of the 20% (or 30%)?  The only way you'll know is to watch (give it at least a minute).  The animation is courtesy Will Guy from Goopymart.

    Hey Stefan!
I'm simultaneously amused and upset that you describe my debut animated music video for kids enjoyable to only 20-30% of the parent/kid population. I aim to never talk down to kids and to create content that is intellectually stimulating, while entertaining, for kids and parents alike. I prefer to assume the majority of the parent-kid population is smarter and more discerning that we think. One kid-friend was scared of the Crust Lady, so I wrote the song Dragons and Monsters, in response: listenable here: http://www.theukulady.com/to-the-downfall-of-evil/ In the meantime. Thanks for featuring my video! The Crust Lady was written for all the parents and grownups who never make themselves lunch, but selflessly feed on the leftover crusts of their children's 'wiches. To The Downfall of Evil! Meep!

Hi, and thanks for the comment!
My experience is that few kids music albums will have a broad audience, that most have a particular niche. It has nothing to do with how smart and discerning kids are -- the default assumption 'round these parts is that kids are almost always as smart and discerning as their adult minders if not more so -- and everything to do with their tastes. Saying that I think only 20 to 30% of kids might geek out over the video isn't a slam, just a perception that it's not for everybody. There's plenty of other music here that meets that 20-30% threshold, and I often fully embrace that. Your (and others') mileage may vary.
