Share: "Gimme Some Pancakes" - The Boogers

Pile-of-Pancakes-606x616.jpg
Who doesn't love free pancakes? I love pancakes, especially the free ones! Warm, with a little maple syrup, maybe with some butter on top. (Or some peanut butter for variety's sake.)

And so I think that it's AWESOME that kids punk band The Boogers are offering their fans free pancakes for the price of an e-mail. I mean, how great is that? You give them your e-mail address, and they send you PANCAKES. All the way from Illinois!

[whisper, whisper]

Oh, it's not actual pancakes? It's a song about pancakes? Sigh. I mean, yeah, the new song rocks, and, yes, you can get "Gimme Some Pancakes" for the price of an e-mail. (And, yeah, Crusty and the crew are workin' on a new album for 2012.) But now I'm hungry.

Share: "Grand Old Flag" - The Boogers

LetsGo.jpgIt's the Fourth of July, and hot as blazes around here, so it's a good thing that The Boogers' free mp3 for the holiday clocks in at a shade under 30 seconds. Because if their cover of "Grand Old Flag" were any longer, the undeniable urge to pogo up and down to the track could cause heat exhaustion if your kids aren't properly prepared.

To download the track, head to The Boogers' home page and click on the cute kid in the upper-right hand corner.

The Ketchup Report, Vol. 2

I optimistically titled my first attempt at a generic roundup of Volume 1, but, hey, here's Volume 2! All the news too small for its own post, super-sized for you.

-- As previously noted, Tor Hyams was developing a new podcast and the first episode of Kindiecast premiered last weekend. Thirty minutes, 8 songs -- stream or download it here. (And today the website notes that Recess Monkey has another batch of songs ready to go, but those guys write songs in their sleep, I think.) Anyways, iTunes podcasting will be happening shortly...

-- Speaking of Hyams, Frances England's Mind of My Own (produced by Hyams) is released Nov. 9th and she's got a lot of new stuff associated with the release. This weekend she's got a new show on Sirius-XM's Kids Place Live (check there for details), she's selling artwork, and, while I have a vague memory that Frances told me about these "Creative Family Challenges" contests, the first one is now here and embedded below:

-- Speaking of upcoming albums, The Baby Grands release their new album The Baby Grands II on Nov. 16, and today only they're running a deal on Plum District's Atlanta site to get that and their debut album for just $9 plus shipping... I like the creative thinking on getting their music out in front of a wide audience...

-- To complete the upcoming album trifecta, The Boogers' second album Let's Go! comes out Nov. 23rd and they're letting you have one of the energetic album's best tracks, "Otto's Orange Day," for the price of an e-mail address. Go here to grab it.

-- The Deedle Deedle Dees' Lloyd Miller will be recording his November sing-a-alongs in Brooklyn for a new album to be released soon. For free. Woot!

-- Gustafer Yellowgold has a blog. Yes, a blog.

Video: "Itsy Bitsy Spider" (Live) - The Boogers

There is nothing complicated about this live rendition of "Itsy Bitsy Spider" from the Chicago-area band The Boogers.

Unless you count the 360-degree horizontal spin of the camera near the end. Could make you throw up if you watch this on IMAX, I suppose.

Ralph Covert describes this song as being about "existentialism" -- Crusty B (Paul, the lead singer and guitarist) prefers the phrase "de-termination and perserverance." Which I guess means the same thing, no?

Video: "I Don't Need To Be Worried" (Live) - The Boogers

If you'd asked me a year ago for the hardest rocking band in kids music, I'd probably have given the nod to Detroit's CandyBand. But now, I'm not so sure... the Ramones-inspired Chicago-area band The Boogers have been playing a number of live shows. Take a listen to "I Don't Need To Be Worried" from Road To Rock, played live in Texas, and tell me that it wouldn't get some kids pogoing (and maybe even feel a little more confident).
